Fall Statewide Directors Meeting
When:September 18-19, 2013
Directors of Wisconsin tribal and non-tribal domestic violence and dual programs are invited to attend this semiannual meeting to share and learn from each other. End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin co-sponsors the meeting with American Indians Against Abuse and the Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault.
The September meeting will focus on leadership and developing sustainable, survivor-centered and trauma-informed organizations. We chose this topic in response to feedback received from directors via meeting evaluations, the WCADV member survey and informal conversations. Creating community and social change is a dynamic process that requires organizational capacity to participate in and lead the efforts. It is critical for us to have a point of view and a big picture understanding of the problem we are here to solve. We recognize that leaders cannot be “neutral” when there is a need for change.
We will look at some of the critical aspects of leading organizations that are deeply passionate about ending domestic and sexual violence. We need to sustain a movement, sustain our organizations and sustain ourselves .
Our leadership today will determine the future of our movement and our organizations 10-20 years into the future. The Directors Meeting is dedicated to honoring and celebrating this sacred responsibility.
