Client Services Advocate

Hope House of South Central Wisconsin is recruiting qualified candidates for two positions – Client Services Advocate and Children’s Program Coordinator. Salary range is $25,000 - $31,000 or commensurate with education and experience. Full-time positions include generous benefit package (vacation, personal holidays, sick leave, health insurance, 401(k), flex account, paid training).
Client Services Advocate
Summary: Provide information and referrals, crisis intervention, supportive counseling and advocacy for individuals and families affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. Conduct outreach activities to inform community members of available options for people experiencing violence. Provide training and education on the prevalence and effects of abuse. Develop and implement programming and strategies to strengthen, improve and expand domestic violence and sexual assault services throughout a five-county service area. The position is based in Baraboo, some regional travel required (mileage reimbursement available). Participation in the 24/7 on-call rotation is required. Occasional evenings and weekends are required.
Child and Family Advocate
Summary: The Child/Youth Advocate provides information, support and services to address the needs of children/youth affected by violence in their families and youth/teens experiencing intimate partner violence/dating violence or unhealthy relationships. The advocate coordinates individual and group activities and services for kids/families in shelter. This position provides information and training on issues related to child development, domestic violence, dating violence, and healthy relationships. The advocate also works with the Community Education Coordinator to promote primary prevention and early detection. This position is based in Baraboo, some regional travel is required (mileage reimbursement available). Participation in the 24/7 on-call rotation is required. This position requires a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of families in shelter and to participate in community speaking engagements and events. Some evening and weekend hours are required for this position.

General Qualifications: Knowledge, skills and abilities equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree and three years of professionally supervised experience related to the position is preferred. A comprehensive understanding of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual abuse and child maltreatment is required. An understanding of and commitment to strength-based advocacy and an empowerment philosophy is essential. Qualified applicants will be committed to providing accessible, culturally-competent, trauma- informed services. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team are required. The ability to remain calm and compassionate under pressure and in crisis situations is essential. Bilingual (English-Spanish) candidates are preferred.
