Domestic Abuse Program- Client Advocate
Employer:The Women's Community, Inc. (located in Wausau, WI)
Job Summary: Full-time position. Provides advocacy, crisis intervention, supportive counseling and follow up services to individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence.
Collects and maintains relevant statistics, including client case notes as required.
Completes all required reports in a timely manner.
Assists Program Coordinator in preparing grant reports.
Attends all required agency meetings as scheduled.
Provides advocacy for program clients throughout their involvement in the criminal justice system and mental health/social service system.
Provides transportation as required by clients.
Assists clients with filling out paperwork and filing Restraining Orders.
Is on-call for support calls on a rotating basis with other agency staff.
Provides advocacy regarding legal, medical, financial, and other areas as needed by clients.
Provides information and referrals and general program and issue information.
Provides assessment of individuals seeking shelter.
Performs intakes and exit interviews with shelter residents.
Consults with Program Coordinator and other staff regarding shelter resident concerns.
Answers support line when necessary.
Provides follow up services after leaving shelter.
Maintains confidentiality of all recipients of services.
Performs duties in an open and non-judgmental manner.
Identifies needs of agency and clients and actively participates in constructive problem solving with agency Director and staff.
Attends all agency fundraising activities.
Must be familiar with the dynamics of domestic and sexual abuse.
Bi-lingual fluency is a plus.
