Our legal team is a leader in educating advocates, attorneys, judges and others on the best responses to domestic abuse. In addition, we advocate for changes in laws and legal practices to improve the legal system for survivors.
On an ongoing basis, we are teaching legal professionals in Wisconsin about restraining orders, family law, economic support, immigration law, criminal law and much more. We offer statewide trainings and webinars, but also commonly respond to the training needs to local communities with sessions that are tailored to unique issues as they emerge.
We seek improvement to the legal system in collaboration with a number of other stakeholders and agencies. Working together, in concert with local advocates and other concerned individuals, we have accomplished a lot and continue to push for greater equity and justice.
The legal department offers a law school externship program which allows law school and paralegal students to work here, providing assistance with research and the creation of training materials and resources.
See our Education page for more information about legal trainings and webinars.
