Basic Restraining Order Training

This training is designed for any advocate who will assist individuals to obtain restraining orders. Participants will learn how to help a victim assess whether they want a restraining order and explain the process to obtain one, determine eligibility for different types of orders, and assist a victim to complete a petition and to prepare for court. Recent legislation related to restraining orders will be covered. Cyrus Behroozi (End Abuse Justice Systems Program Director) & Jeni Haddad (Family Support Center Domestic Violence Program Director).

Registration: Registration closes November 5. Space is limited, so register early! Registration will be closed early if capacity is reached before the deadline; preference will be given to advocates of DV/SA programs.
Cost: $45. Refunds will be issued, less $10 for administrative fees, for cancellations received in writing by November 5, 2019.
Lodging & Meals: Morning refreshments and lunch will be provided. A block of rooms at the Sheraton is available for November 11-13, at the state rate of $82 per night. To reserve a room online go to Reserve a Room, or call 1-888-625-4988 and mention the “Foundations of Advocacy/Basic Restraining Order Training” block by October 21 to receive the group rate. We suggest that guests bring a copy of a tax-exempt certificate with them at check-in to avoid paying room taxes, as well as a photo ID and credit card for incidentals.
