This introductory training offers an overview of the criminal legal system as it relates to domestic abuse survivors, whether named as victims or defendants. Learn the ins and outs from initial reporting through prosecution: including using expert witnesses, crime victims’ rights, and victim compensation/restitution. The training will also address safety planning and how criminalization can impact survivors’ lives, including employment and family law. Advocates will gain tools to support survivors through these complex legal processes.
