Introductory Workshop 101/102: Transformative Justice Starts with Healing Lead by Brandi Grayson

Tuesday, March 16, 2021 - Wednesday, March 17, 2021 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Online Training

Racism creates and compounds chronic trauma. Traumatic experiences and recovery from trauma create stress in social interactions, contributing to negative outcomes observable in arenas such as health and education. Using the trauma model as a framework, these anti-racism workshops analyze poor and exemplary responses to racialized stressful events in order to improve our ability to function. We’ll examine how chronic racial trauma is created and the impact it has on our culture and society. Finally, we’ll explore how our inattention to trauma and its nuances impact our ability to engage in effective racial and social justice work. Participants will learn skills for practical trauma informed social interactions for
everyday life.
