Fair housing rights ensure consumers are treated fairly and equally, including in shelters and other supportive housing environments. The Metropolitan Milwaukee Fair Housing Council will provide an overview of local, state, and federal protected classes, prohibited practices, and red flags of discrimination. The presentation will include a focus on fair housing protections for victims of domestic violence, families with children, and people with disabilities. Advocates will be better prepared to recognize discriminatory practices impacting the clients they serve, and housing providers will learn how to ensure policies and practices comply with fair housing laws. The Council and its satellite offices, the Fair Housing Center of Greater Madison and the Fair Housing Center of Northeast Wisconsin, serve all of Wisconsin.
