Restraining Order Basics: Practical Matters for Advocates

Tuesday, August 10, 2021 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

You may know the what and why (or why not) of restraining orders – this training will delve into the how. We will address such practical matters as how to complete the paperwork, how to file, including e-filing, and and understanding the role of service representatives/advocates in the court process. This training is for any advocate who will assist persons seeking restraining orders. Previous participation in the “Restraining Order Basics: A Tool that can Help or Harm” training is helpful but not required; for those who have not previously attended the training, we highly recommend reviewing materials that will be provided in advance. Presenters: Jennifer Johnson, JD (RISE Law Center), Kari LaScala, JD (End Abuse) and Jeni Haddad (Family Support Center).

This training is intended for domestic violence and sexual assault advocates in the state of Wisconsin – registrants will be individually approved and others will be added to a waitlist.  Registration will close a week in advance of the training.
