Associate Director of Advocacy
Full-time (40 hours)

Primary responsibilities

Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Advocacy, this position will be responsible for strategic planning, long-range forecasting, programmatic and financial oversight, personnel management and daily operations of Shelter Services and Children and Youth Services. The Associate Director of Advocacy will provide direct leadership to supervisors, coordinators, frontline staff, interns, and others as assigned.

How will your days be spent?
-Overseeing programs, case management, and activities of the Shelter and Children’s programming.
-Ensuring client needs are met in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.
-Maintaining awareness of changes in the community and community processes that can affect advocacy and shelter services.
-Working in conjunction with senior leadership to leverage community internal and external resources to enhance services.
-Providing leadership to maintain and integrate knowledge of innovative program principles, available domestic violence family resources, the criminal and civil court systems, child welfare system, family court, children’s court and the domestic abuse and child abuse restraining order processes.

Qualifications

What are we looking for?
-Sensitivity and understanding of domestic violence issues, knowledge of community resources, comprehension of the criminal justice system, communication skills, and ability to advocate for the needs of clients.
-Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, and measurement of these effects.
-Knowledge of principles and processes for providing effective client service, including needs assessments, meeting quality standard for services and evaluation of client satisfaction.
-Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, strategies for effective group facilitation.
-Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
-Requires comprehensive knowledge of statutory framework for domestic abuse, harassment and child abuse injunctions, and knowledge of and experience working with adults and/or children exposed to interpersonal violence.
-Minimum of five years supervisory experience required.
-Certification in Lean Six Sigma, organizational development or process improvement desirable.
