The Bilingual Domestic Violence Victim Advocate is responsible for the administration & development of VIP’s Domestic Violence & Latinx Outreach Coordination. This position works with the VIP staff to ensure that services provided meet the needs of Latinx domestic violence victims in Kewaunee County.

 

Primary responsibilities

The Bilingual Domestic Violence Victim Advocate responsibilities include the following:
Fluent in both Spanish and English.
Provide crisis intervention, supportive services and legal, medical, and systems advocacy for victims & survivors of domestic violence.
Provide education to diverse individuals on topics related to healthy relationships and violence prevention.
Facilitate support group services.
Serve as staff liaison for Community Education Committee to coordinate DVAM and events as needed.
Coordinate domestic violence outreach opportunities for the Latinx population
Represent VIP and participate in CCR and community meetings & events.
Engage people in conversations about the media, social norms, oppression, and social justice.
Evaluate your success and adapt your program accordingly.
Provide feedback, direction and support to all other VIP staff positions.
Build strong, professional relationships with community leaders.
Participate in On Call HELPLINE and advocacy duties.

Qualifications

Fluent in both Spanish and English.  Communication and organizational skills are necessary.  Ability to work as a self -starter and as a member of a team required.
