Bolton Refuge House Inc. is looking for an agile Human Resources Generalist to join their organization!

The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) will act as an HR Department of one for the organization. Partnering closely with the Executive Director and reporting to the Board of Directors, the HRG will oversee recruitment, compensation management, payroll processing, maintain policies, team development, employee relations, and HR compliance.  This full-time and on-site position.

Primary responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the Executive Director, recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with staff to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Prepares resources for compensation review, through review of market and incumbent data, to be presented at annual merit review meetings.
  • Processes recurring and ad-hoc payrolls including timecard tracking, payroll item entry, tax filing, and ensuring payments are sent.
  • Develops, maintains, and monitors compliance of all personnel policies and procedures that comply with Local, State and Federal laws and are consistent with agency mission and core values, including not limited to the Employee Handbook and Procedure Manual.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Secures, maintains, and updates personnel records in accordance with state and federal law.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • 3+ years of human resources related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SPHR or SHRM-CP Certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and demonstrate exceptional time management skills.
  • High integrity and high ethical standards, objective organizational view, tact and ability to think clearly in stressful situations.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Agency responsibilities

Bolton Refuge House, Inc (BRH) is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit that provides services for individuals affected by domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. We are the only emergency shelter agency in Eau Claire, WI with support staff available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Locations in Buffalo, Eau Claire, and Jackson Counties provide services to thousands of adults and children each year.
