End Abuse Staff Accountant

SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Director of Finance, the Staff Accountant is an exempt position. This position is responsible for supporting aspects of finance and accounting for the agency including processing accounts payable, general accounting responsibilities, account reconciliations, participation in the annual audit, assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end. This primary focus of this position is accounts payable with expansion into a few general ledger responsibilities. This position is also responsible for ensuring that transactions are processed in accordance with GAAP, Federal and State grants financial management guidelines, and END ABUSE internal policies and procedures, and for communicating exceptions to management. 

Primary responsibilities

Accounts Payable – Perform the day-to-day processing of accounts payable transactions to ensure that END ABUSE finances are maintained in an effective, up to date, and accurate manner.  

  • Receive and verify invoices and requisitions for goods and services.  
  • Verify that transactions comply with END ABUSE financial policies and procedures and troubleshoot as needed.  
  • Prepare coding of invoices for Director of Finance for approval and data entry.  
  • Enter invoices for payment into accounting system.  
  • Manage the weekly check run as designated by the Director of Finance  
  • Monitor sub-grantees billings against budgeted amounts.  
  • Monitor contracts for outside vendors.  
  • Calculate 1099’s at year end.  
  • Track vendor W-9 forms.  
  • Manage online payments to vendors.   

 General Ledger 

  • Prepare journal entries 
  • Assist with account reconciliations/research issues 

 Administrative Support  

  • Filing, organizing, data entry, and any other duties as assigned. 
  • Scanning A/P invoices  

Qualifications

Required  

  • Associate’s degree (Four-year Accounting degree a plus) 
  • 5+ years of accounting experience.  
  • 5+ years of accounts payable.  
  • Excellent communications skills, verbal and written.  
  • Comfortable with office technology such as copiers, faxes, postage machines, etc.  
  • Highly proficient in the use of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook; ability to learn and utilize additional forms of technology preferred.  
  • Able to work efficiently under deadlines.  
  • Aptitude for complexity and flexibility.  
  • Must be detail oriented, extremely organized and dependable.  
  • Team player.  
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance and access to a safe, reliable, private vehicle.

 Preferred  

  • Experience with Great Plains Accounting Software.  
  • Non-profit accounting experience.  
  • Grants experience a plus!

This is a permanent full-time position. The pay range for this role is $60,000 to $80,000 commensurate with experience and skills. A background check will be conducted for this position prior to employment and this role has a 90-day probationary period. Benefits begin the following month after date of hire.
