Shelter Program Coordinator
This job is a temporary, full time (40 hours) position with the potential to become regular, full time.
Shift: Tuesday-Saturday, 9am-5pm (Flexibility for some evening hours as needed)

Sojourner Family Peace Center (SFPC) employs dedicated, hardworking professionals who want to be of service to others and make a difference in Milwaukee and surrounding communities.

Primary responsibilities

Under the direction of Associate Director of Advocacy, the Shelter Program Coordinator will assist all residents that enter the shelter by assisting them with advocacy and case management needs, as well as developing safety plans and goals to meet the individual needs of the residents, in accordance with Agency policies and procedures. This position will also provide AODA support to residents as needed.

The candidate we seek must be comfortable assisting clients in the midst of life altering events involving domestic violence, family violence and human trafficking. Experience providing compassionate non-judgmental support to people who may exhibit symptoms related to trauma, behavioral health illness and substance use is required. Must remain calm in stressful circumstances and quickly build rapport with clients.

How will your days be spent?
-Collaborating with all Sojourner Family Peace Center staff to assist clients and ensure all safety planning, community resource and legal assistance needs are met, among others. Make resident referrals to agency and community resources as needed.
-Serving as one of primary staff members to complete intakes for new residents.
-Meeting with residents on a weekly basis to assist them with advocacy and case management needs.
-Provide individual AODA support to residents as needed.
-Prepare outcome reports and compile and verify all required statistics according to funder expectations in a timely manner and submit accurate copies to the appropriate parties.

-Must possess basic knowledge of de-escalation techniques and ability to demonstrate when necessary.

Qualifications

Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree in a job related major
-Minimum of three to five years of related experience; or an Associate’s degree or two years of college with job related coursework and six to eight years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
-Qualified candidates that have at least 2 years of experience working with AODA clients preferred
