In this issue of the Coalition Chronicles, we focus on people who have experienced human trafficking, and those who advocate alongside them in Wisconsin. We have amplified the voices of those with lived experience of trafficking, highlighted the growing Human Trafficking Community of Care, and spotlighted the work of Asia Jackson (DCF) and Julie Braun (DOJ). American Indians Against Abuse, End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault, and the Wisconsin Office of Crime Victim Services - Department of Justice worked together to develop the publication.

We are excited to announce that the 2022 Teen Summit is being planned as an in-person event! We can’t wait to be in space with everyone at this upcoming Teen Summit, which will be from 6/12/22 – 6/14/22 at the Kalahari Resorts in Wisconsin Dells! Submit proposals for workshops, roundtables, and performances by January 11!

This reality too often goes unaddressed by media coverage of mass acts of violence, and demonstrates what our coalition and domestic violence advocates across the state and nation have insisted for years: that intimate partner violence is a community issue, not a private matter. It truly affects all of us.”

The latest edition of Transformative, our quarterly newsletter for advocates & multi-disciplinary teams, is released for Fall 2021! With dedicated sections including Local Voices, Policy Spotlights, and Practices for Healing and Accountability, Systems Change Coordinator Tegan Swanson provides tools to foster change, accountability, and healing in our personal and professional communities. This issue features a spotlight on reproductive justice and the Wisconsin Alliance for Women's Health, action to take on Critical Race & Gender Theory, and videos + critical questions on criminalization of survival.

During Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), End Abuse has created an interactive map of DVAM events and initiatives from our member programs around Wisconsin. The national DVAM campaign reminds us that #Every1KnowsSome1 who has experienced violence; this map helps individuals find ways to support victims and survivors in their lives by supporting local domestic violence programs in their communities. Search by region and/or type of event (in-person or virtual), see details about local initiatives, link directly to local programs' websites and donation pages, and be part of the solution.

They Trespass Her Body Like They Trespass This Land*: On Justice, Remembrance & Healing for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples - Released simultaneously with the 2020 Wisconsin Domestic Violence Homicide Report, this in-depth piece highlights the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit (MMIWG2S) people in an effort to amplify the work of Native communities to meaningfully address the harrowing past and current systemic violence against and attempted erasure of Indigenous bodies, cultures, and experiences. 

This is the nineteenth edition of the Wisconsin Domestic Violence Homicide Report. End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin has been tracking and analyzing all incidents of domestic violence homicide that occurred in Wisconsin since 2000. This report documents fatalities from 2020, and includes a special feature on Justice, Remembrance, & Healing for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Peoples.

In this issue of the Coalition Chronicles, we explore the intersection of ageism and violence, including domestic abuse. We draw attention to ageism because it is one of the “-isms” that is often ignored, yet it is dehumanizing; ageism is embedded in our culture, contributing to a climate in which people across the lifespan are marginalized, and in which violence against them can thrive.

Join us for our 6th Annual Soar Above Gala in support of domestic abuse survivors. This online event will address the grim realities of domestic violence while holding essential space for accessing the joy we collectively need, deserve, and work towards as part of the anti-violence movement.
